Our day and age is full of opportunities but little guidance on how to choose them. We all want a good life, yet we often feel stuck in the same old patterns without progress or fulfillment.
You're here because, unlike the majority of people who have already surrendered to these frustrating patterns, you're ready to do something about them.
Whether you want to...
...you've come to the right place.
You have the potential to achieve any of these goals and more, but these changes won't happen on their own. It's time you take action. The question is:
Find lasting happiness
Be more successful and productive
Understand yourself and how your mind works
Be a better person
Or change the frickin' world
What's holding you back?
Imagine trying to drive a car while blindfolded. That’s kind of like life. Your mind never came with a user’s manual. School never taught us “lifer’s ed”. Amid the endless forks in the road with no map to guide us, we can easily lose our way and become a passenger in our own life. We all know what that's like.
Perhaps what’s preventing us from taking the wheel isn’t that we lack the ability to do so. What if we simply lack the knowledge and skills of a good life?
Think about it.
If a "good life” exists, then there must be a path that leads to it. In other words, it can be known through facts, reasoning and observation and can be practiced using skills. That’s what we’re here to learn.
Hey, I’m Gage Weston! I’m an 18 year-old thinker from New Braunfels, Texas with a passion for bringing smiles to people's faces, compassion to their hearts, and new ideas to their minds. For me, any day spent learning, enjoying nature, laughing with friends, or playing with my dogs is a good day. I am also fond of the occasional witty joke.
I’m also the “how guy". I want to know how to get results. How to bridge the gap between our actual life and our ideal life. I won’t pretend that I’m anywhere near a master of my life or a guru for yours, but I’ve got too much passion to keep to myself.
Being a nerd of the highest degree, I’ve always been driven by a natural craving for knowledge. Growing up, this used to mean that any time I didn't know something, I saw it as a sign of weakness. I was terrified of what I didn’t understand.
However, I've since realized that the dangers of ignorance should not keep us from seeking the truth. If anything, it should motivate us in our search.
Think of me as the "why guy". I want to know why you do what you do, think what you think, feel what you feel. I am fascinated by the reasons behind things — the causes of success, the factors that lead to happiness, and the logic behind events, values and decisions.
The Search for a good life
It begins with examining our thinking — our beliefs, values, mindsets, and attitudes. Our thinking shapes our perception which shapes our wellbeing. It shapes our decisions which shape the world. Thus, if we want to change anything, we must first change our thinking.
I believe that questions are the answer, that admitting our own ignorance is the first step out of it. Because it is the process of thinking, not merely its result, that grants us an understanding of the world and the ammunition to change it.
It's time we come to think about these things, the things that matter. Who knows? Perhaps someday the truth shall set us free.
